An article in the Your Money section of the Daily Mirror (published 10 May 2006) compared different loyalty reward programs. Interestingly, they discovered that "the average cash saved last year for people with a GM Card was £1,089 on their new cars."

Each GM Card Rebate Point (i.e. each Rebate Point and each Partner Point) may be redeemed from the date it appears on your GM Card statement until the 4th Anniversary of its appearance on your statement.

You can redeem unlimited Partner Points in addition to the Model Line Maximum.
Two Cardholders living at the same address can pool their Rebate Points, bringing the purchase of a new Vauxhall or Saab even closer.
You're allowed to transfer accumulated Rebate Points to an eligible relative, who is not a GM Cardholder themselves, so that they can enjoy a saving off their new Vauxhall or Saab.
Eligible relatives include: parents, spouse, siblings, children, grandparents, grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, step parents, step children and in-laws.
If your new Vauxhall or Saab is a company car, you can redeem a maximum of 500 Rebate Points at a time. These Points can be exchanged for up to £500 worth of high street vouchers which you can spend at any one of the following outlets:
